Enjoy learning how to navigate across a number of different terrains, taking care of yourself, your passengers, your vehicle and the environment as you travel.
The team at All Terrain taught our son quite a few of the basics of off-road driving as he was learning to drive with them on road. They got him to drive their 4wd automatics and manuals both on and off-road. This really helped him to understand some of the basic principles. It was great having him come home sandy and streaked with dust and grime excitedly telling us about the center of gravity on his vehicle or how he helped to recover a vehicle from a river. We believe this gave him a deeper insight into keeping himself safe. We even got to go with him on one of the trips and feel much better when he takes his truck out of the garage setting off on a weekend - Thanks All Terrain!
Each student must hold a full license or alternatively a restricted license as long as you are in the process of completing our on-road module.
We hold a number of days per month in locations ideally designed to be able to drive off road from the novice tracks to the more challenging grunty terrains. We do not operate a “gun ho” attitude – there are specific places set up for those more extreme 4wd communities. Each student who is invited to attend gets the opportunity to learn a broad range of skills such as :
How to navigate an uphill sand dune
How to descend in sand
How to navigate ruts and mud
How to recover a stuck vehicle
How and why to change tire pressures
How to navigate water
How to assess a challenge
The difference between low and high range
What is a diff lock and why are they useful in some situations
