Developing a training plan with you is where we begin once you have your theory learner test behind you.

Your training plan will be a structured and logical sequence of progressive lesson plans with the provision for the review of your progress as we go.

Each lesson plan will have its own TRAINING OBJECTIVE which will outline what you will achieve as a result of the session along with the STANDARD to which you need to perform the task and the conditions under which the performance will be assessed along with the RESOURCES that will need to be supplied.

How we deliver our knowledge to you is through three main methods

Controlled Practice – This is where your tutor will carry out the manoeuvre with a full verbal description as we go a couple of times so you have a chance to observe and feel comfortable trying it yourself.

Prompted Practice – Once you are comfortable, you can then try the manoeuvre whilst your tutor prompts you with a word here and there as a reminder as you concentrate on carrying out your manoeuvre

Transferred Responsibility – Yay – this is the bit you get to do it yourself and practice.

Rylee, we haven’t seen each other for quite some time, so when we first got into the car your motion was a little bit jerky when it came to changing gears, selecting the appropriate gear, however, you soon began to get that lovely relaxed vibe when it came to looking at gears, how to do it, and so well done for remaining with your left foot on the clutch and just either lifting, or pressing down. How low can you go about the control that you can get in a gear before you do a maneuver. So for example, turning right, coming down smoothly into second gear, and not coasting to a junction. Being able to apply your handbrake, and then gently release to move away in first gear. So you did very well. I want you to practice a lot of just driving with gears, I want you to understand what your engine sounds like, and you’re getting there, really well done.

This is a record of your progress and must be kept by us on your behalf for 12 months and when added to your lesson plans forms the overall training plan.

• You must look after your own safety and those around you
• you must make sure your actions or inactions do not harm or injure anybody else
• it is your duty to report a hazard if you see one, no matter how minor
• all accidents and near misses must be reported, even if they are minor
• You must listen to your tutor and carry out all instructions given
• No mobile telephones or handheld devices are allowed in the front of the vehicle and you must have any devices on silent when your driving session is being conducted
• There is a first aid kit located in the rear of the vehicle and your tutor is trained in how to administer first aid
• There is paperwork located in the front of the vehicle as to who you are, your emergency contacts, and the same details as to who your tutor is in case of an emergency situation
• There is also a fire extinguisher located in the rear of the vehicle
• The vehicle contains off-road recovery equipment and must not be tampered with

• To prepare yourself to be on time for your session and ready to go when your tutor arrives for you
• Follow all instructions given by the trainer
• Be thoughtful, co-operate and be tolerant
• Respect others right to learn without interruption
• Be well mannered, considerate, and friendly to each other, staff, and other students
• Self-discipline, common sense, and respect for others
• Let your tutor know if you are taking ANY prescribed or unprescribed medication – even if it is over the counter for a headache so that we can make a decision as to whether it could affect your driving performance

The following behaviors will not be tolerated by either the tutor or the student or any staff member of ALL TERRAIN DRIVING ACADEMY

• Rude or abusive language
• Bullying, whether verbal or physical
• Damaging or stealing property
• Possessing or using alcohol or harmful drugs before, during, or after your planned session. If it is believed you are under the influence o drugs or alcohol we reserve the right to breath test you with our commercial breathalyser and or remove you immediately from the vehicle and call the appropriate authority
• Disruptive behavior
• Violent or threatening behavior including road rage
