Hi Nikita. We really look forward to helping you to not only prepare for your restricted driving test, but to also go forward on the roads as a safe and well prepared driver.
Developing a training plan with you is where we begin once you have your theory learner test behind you.
Your training plan will be a structured and logical sequence of progressive lesson plans with the provision for the review of your progress as we go.
Each lesson plan will have its own TRAINING OBJECTIVE which will outline what you will achieve as a result of the session along with the STANDARD to which you need to perform the task and the conditions under which the performance will be assessed along with the RESOURCES that will need to be supplied.
How we deliver our knowledge to you is through three main methods
Controlled Practice – This is where your tutor will carry out the manoeuvre with a full verbal description as we go a couple of times so you have a chance to observe and feel comfortable trying it yourself.
Prompted Practice – Once you are comfortable, you can then try the manoeuvre whilst your tutor prompts you with a word here and there as a reminder as you concentrate on carrying out your manoeuvre
Transferred Responsibility – Yay – this is the bit you get to do it yourself and practice.
This is a record of your progress and must be kept by us on your behalf for 12 months and when added to your lesson plans forms the overall training plan.

Lesson #5 Wednesday 23.11.22 8:30am
Nikita, this was an opportunity to really really have a lesson and meet a couple of times before you sit your test, and this time we went to Albany and took a look at some of the roads around there, although again, a bit of rush hour traffic so we did have some waits. Now I felt it was a great lesson because what it did do was it presented some challenges in how you navigate those busier times and how you can assess situations ahead, bearing in mind your test will be a live driving environment. So the correct lane selection, how to look at using right hand merge lanes – if they exist, and what you do to be able to navigate them. I felt that, you know, turning into a lane, assessing what’s coming behind you, over your shoulders, you had everything really well down towards the end of the lesson. So keep that “slow as you go”, without inconveniencing other road users – but you’re planning ahead, what might change, how are you going to react, what might happen, what’s your escape route, what’s your plan b? And so keeping that practice in mind is fantastic, and i look forward to seeing you again soon
Lesson #4 Tuesday 11.10.22 8am
Nikita, great job as we completed the Massey VTNZ test route today, covering all different aspects. What I want you to do is focus on your parallel parking and your 3-point turns, just to get the technique really clear and smooth. Right turn into flush median: far enough away from the junction to stop completely with your left indicator and only go when you’re ready, but go quickly once you’re pulling out into the main flow of traffic and merging in. Everything else we will meet again and go over again, but you’re really getting there. Just remember your head checks and just remember that calm zen confidence of reading the road in front of you. Speak to you again soon!
