Lydia, it is a privilege to get the opportunity to extend and improve your driving knowledge and practical application as you embark on your driving life. Here is your training plan that is personalised to what you cover. We look forward to meeting you.
Lesson 6 – Fri 23.09.22 11:30
Lydia, absolutely excellent result today, love the level of driving skill that you’ve now achieved. You included your head checks, good, plenty of time-ful indication technique, as we followed the Massey-Westgate VTNZ restricted driving route. I think we will need to go back there, however I want you to practice that route as much as you can, noting that you’ll have a live driving environment on the day so that’s when things can change. I want you to be mindful of practicing now before we meet again, being aware of the hazards both moving and non-moving in your live driving environments so that you can react in time. I’d also like you to do some practice of being able to change lanes comfortably, confidently, and safely. Especially if in Westgate the testing officer asks you to do that within the traffic light zones, that you will check mirrors, you will indicate, and then head check and move across. Definitely get some parallel parking and 3-point turn practice in and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Lesson 5
A very solid lesson today Lydia. I have noted your restricted test date of 5th August and would suggest another lesson on Tuesday 2nd August from 5.30 pm until 7 pm. I can also offer a pre-test settle in one hour on the morning of your test if it does start at 9 am.
Please make sure to practice the technique shown today for completing a successful parallel park as well as practicing gentle acceleration and not the surge sometimes that your car does. Also, practice the quicker transfer of the foot to the accelerator from the brake and make use of your handbrake so you can select a gap more effectively.
Lesson 4
Lesson 3
Lydia – It was good to carry out some roundabout maneuvering as well as nighttime driving this evening. I hope you are now able to feel more confident in your roundabout approach and handling of the same. If you can practice driving into and exiting roundabouts this would be hugely beneficial. Remember to head check before you change lane position. Remember the indication rule of indicating only after you pass the exit before the one you wish to leave on. Practice your zipping over the junction into the roundabout but slowing down once clear of any traffic so you have time to think of what you need to do to exit the roundabout and also to be able to avoid traffic if they are not letting you in. Remember to give yourself time by slowing down and especially when it comes to reacting to various hazards on the road.
Lesson 2
Motorway on ramps and off ramps.
Lesson 1
I think you drove really well in your first driving lesson. You’re demonstrating that your practice is coming along. If you can practice getting used to performing head checks as well as taking time to prepare for hazards ahead by slowing a little when you identify a potential hazard. Covering your brake is a good way of taking off the power without decelerating too much.

A great first lesson Lydia. Your driving practice to date has paid off. I can see you are able to scan your mirrors often and you are able to position the car well in a lane. I would just ask that you focus on slowing the vehicle down when you see potential hazards in the road. This allows you to be able to react should you need to.

Developing a training plan with you Lydia is where we begin once you have your theory learner test behind you.
Your training plan will be a structured and logical sequence of progressive lesson plans with the provision for the review of your progress as we go to build upon the driving practice you have already gained.
Each lesson plan will have its own TRAINING OBJECTIVE which will outline what you will achieve as a result of the session along with the STANDARD to which you need to perform the task and the conditions under which the performance will be assessed along with the RESOURCES that will need to be supplied.
How we deliver our knowledge to you is through three main methods
Controlled Practice – This is where your tutor will carry out the manoeuvre with a full verbal description as we go a couple of times so you have a chance to observe and feel comfortable trying it yourself.
Prompted Practice – Once you are comfortable, you can then try the manoeuvre whilst your tutor prompts you with a word here and there as a reminder as you concentrate on carrying out your manoeuvre
Transferred Responsibility – Yay – this is the bit you get to do it yourself and practice.
Lydia is booked for two lessons in advance. Sharon will conduct these lessons in Lydia’s own vehicle.
1st lesson date 21st March
2nd lesson date 30th March 4pm
This is a record of your progress and must be kept by us on your behalf for 12 months and when added to your lesson plans forms the overall training plan.
