Jessy, everything you learn and need is contained here as an easy way for you to revise, remember and prepare for sitting your restricted driving test.
Lesson 6 – We focused today on the more technical aspect of smaller manoeuvres such as three point turns, parallel parking and reversing. A difficult lesson as everything is needed in small detail to be successful but you managed it perfectly. My advice is to now practice as much as possible in your own car, using your technique of very little speed combined with maximum steering ability to carry out the action you need. Remember to give yourself some time and space to carry out the parallel park, ensuring you pull in alongside the car you will use giving yourself a metre and making sure you are always straight on the front wheels so you can take time to then use the front wheel to back wheel strategy, then swing all the way to the left on your steering then straighten and slowly go back looking for when you want to spin your steering all the way to flick your car in.
Let’s look to meet up again in about three weeks and by then you should have your restricted test date booked during the day ( avoiding school and rush hour times.)

A good lesson as we look into 3 point turns and parallel parking. You worked well on these and with more practice, the aim is to have you very confident in your execution of these so if you can practice, outside of your lessons, then that will be an enormous help.

Good lesson Jessy as we begin to look at the more technical side of driving and preparing for your restricted test. Because you are so used to driving rural roads in and out of Bethells ( considering many students would find this aspect difficult, you are now having to learn parallel parking and three-point turns. It was fantastic to see you nail these towards the end of your lesson. Practicing these will help you enormously in the coming week as I would like to begin our next lesson with you being able to confidently signal left, pull alongside a parked car, reverse into the space, make the car safe then drive out again all the time using head checks.
Please refer to the video on this page regarding parallel parking. Here are a couple of diagrams that may also help.

A great first lesson despite my thinking a manual was requested ( which was on the registration form.) We conducted the lesson in an automatic. Great start, good overall vehicle control. Please practice head checks as these are essential for blind spots and must be demonstrated in the test itself and should become your habit. Practice your lane position when rural driving as discussed. Practice becoming a little more confident in your gap selection so that you do not inconvenience other road users.
Great start and see you next time.

Developing a training plan with you is where we begin once you have your theory learner test behind you.
Your training plan will be a structured and logical sequence of progressive lesson plans with the provision for the review of your progress as we go.
Each lesson plan will have its own TRAINING OBJECTIVE which will outline what you will achieve as a result of the session along with the STANDARD to which you need to perform the task and the conditions under which the performance will be assessed along with the RESOURCES that will need to be supplied.
How we deliver our knowledge to you is through three main methods
Controlled Practice – This is where your tutor will carry out the manoeuvre with a full verbal description as we go a couple of times so you have a chance to observe and feel comfortable trying it yourself.
Prompted Practice – Once you are comfortable, you can then try the manoeuvre whilst your tutor prompts you with a word here and there as a reminder as you concentrate on carrying out your manoeuvre
Transferred Responsibility – Yay – this is the bit you get to do it yourself and practice.
The following behaviors will not be tolerated by either the tutor or the student or any staff member of ALL TERRAIN DRIVING ACADEMY
