We look forward to meeting you and helping you to prepare for your restricted driving test as well as help you to become a safe and confident driver.
Pretest Preparation – Monday 03.10.22
James, I am just so thrilled to hear that you have now passed your test! Big congratulations, you’ve done so well.
We covered in your last lesson all the aspects of driving, not only to cover you for your restricted test, but to take you forward into your driving journey.
Lesson 4 Thursday 26th May from Henderson Hire, Henderson
We focussed the whole lesson on roundabouts and here is my feedback James. Practicing roundabouts is essential to being confident at intersections so feeling your nerves and getting on top of them was great to see! Because you are driving a manual vehicle it makes it more complex with all the multi-tasking you have to think about. Remember to practice “how low can you go” in the gear as you approach the line at the roundabout. If there is a give way, then a clear junction means 2nd gear in low and you can proceed gently or drop down to 1st gear and low speed which means you don’t need to necessarily stop which holds other road users up hence the tooting of horns. Practice looking into the roundabout right and straight ahead to identify what is coming so that you can assess slowly and save time. Remember to use a little speed to clear the junction but to gas off immediately so you can navigate the roundabout. Remember to indicate on the exit you are not leaving from as well as a head check prior to exiting the actual roundabout.
Lesson 3
Lesson 2
Lesson 1
Great driving – it is now good to get you to master how to manage your manual gears as you drive. Remember to go down the gears as you approach a junction and do not cruise with your foot to the floor on your clutch
This is a record of your progress and must be kept by us on your behalf for 12 months and when added to your lesson plans forms the overall training plan.

Developing a training plan with you is where we begin once you have your theory learner test behind you.
Your training plan will be a structured and logical sequence of progressive lesson plans with the provision for the review of your progress as we go.
Each lesson plan will have its own TRAINING OBJECTIVE which will outline what you will achieve as a result of the session along with the STANDARD to which you need to perform the task and the conditions under which the performance will be assessed along with the RESOURCES that will need to be supplied.
How we deliver our knowledge to you is through three main methods
Controlled Practice – This is where your tutor will carry out the manoeuvre with a full verbal description as we go a couple of times so you have a chance to observe and feel comfortable trying it yourself.
Prompted Practice – Once you are comfortable, you can then try the manoeuvre whilst your tutor prompts you with a word here and there as a reminder as you concentrate on carrying out your manoeuvre
Transferred Responsibility – Yay – this is the bit you get to do it yourself and practice.
The following behaviors will not be tolerated by either the tutor or the student or any staff member of ALL TERRAIN DRIVING ACADEMY
